The many ways to climb Mount Eden…
by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"
Tonight's Ironteam practice was hill repeats on Mount Eden, while repeats are generally bore me easily, I have to say I actually had great time. The key is to make every time different, each time I reached the top I the coaches gave new instructions on how to climb the next time:1. Regular climb
2. Half-standing and half sitting
3. All sitting...

More fun back on Highway One..
by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"
This weekends Captain's Ride with the Ironteam, started at Natural Bridges in Santa Cruz with a 90 mile route straight up Highway One with a turn around in Half Moon Bay. The weather was the oposite end of the extreme from last weekend's ride at Lake Berryessa. When preparing for the ride I decided to put on an extra layer, a wise clothing choice ...

This weekend was America's Most Beautiful Bike, a century ride around Lake Tahoe, it also a national event for Team In Training with over 1800 participants and 8.5 million dollars raised for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The key to speed, Teleportation?
by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"
It was time to tapper for the Tahoe which was coming up in a just week. The rest of the Iron Team were off for a 80 mile ride, but for a change a shorter option the Cycle Team were doing had routes for a 27 mile or 45 mile route, naturally I picked the 45 mile option which lead up to Skyline. Footloose on Foothill…
by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"
How the day began, 6:30am the alarm goes off so I can join the Ironteam for the 50mile marker set. Now the reasoning process begins, "I'm tired I shouldn't cycle" then "I have a 80mile ride tomorrow", "I shouldn't ride 50 miles today", "I should get more sleep it is the sensible thing to do", "I'll get up a little later a join ...

A long the Skyline…
by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"
It is a week to until Wildflower, having not run or cycle since the Boot Camp weekend, I wanted to get a bit of riding in before race. The cycle team had organized a ride starting in Los Gatos, going up Highway 9 to Skyline with a couple options for return, either 84 or Page Mill, back to Foothill Expressway and back to ...
