A Year in Training…

by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"

Well I couldn't possibly imagine begin all that things I've experienced over the past year, here is a (fairly) quick recap of the past year:

August 26th 2006: In final preparations for my second Half-Ironman (Big Kahuna), I crashed my bike quite spectacularly on our team practice Triathlon. After a few hours waiting in the hospital, I found out I'd fractured my arm and would not be able to do my event ...

The Mental Toughness Ride

by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"

Today on the training schedule was something called a "Mental Toughness Ride", this was suppose to be a on your own self supported ride without the team. After what could be described as comedy of mishaps yesterday I ended up getting home very late, with a mere 4 hours of sleep I set out early to start my ride. However instead of just doing ...

Iron Team East Bay Century

I joined the TNT cycle team, halfway through their training season to participate in this event. I had only managed to make a few rides with team ...

The Death Valley Double - “Failure lasts forever but pain is temporary”

by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"

"Failure lasts forever but pain is temporary", those the words from the race organizer just before the ride started. Furnace Creek Ranch was the starting point of the race, the route then continues south on Highway 190 up and out of Death Valley until you reach Shoshone, which is the first turnaround point at 75 miles, at 150 miles you past the starting ...

Solvang Finest Century

by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"

Solvang was my second Century Ride, a friend from the Tri Team, joined me for the ride. There was no fixed start time for the ride so we had breakfast and started off around 7:15am. The first thing that struck us was the number of turns on the course, for the first 30 there seemed to be a turn every mile or so. It ...
