D for Done!
by GoBevGo @ Beverly's Adventures in Ironland 2.0
Short Version:
It was a great day, long but great. I felt strong, albeit slow, throughout the entire day. My nutrition plan worked, I stayed hydrated and didn't have any muscle cramping or distress at any time other than minor issues. I had some choice words for the headwind from mile 50 to mile 90, but other than that I enjoyed the entire experience....

by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"
A year of preparation and today was finally the day! It is hard to even try to put in day into words, the anticipation, excitement, fear and yes plenty of Gatorade.I while managed to sleep a fair number of hours, I was restless with anxiety mainly of over sleeping and not the actual race. I awoke 4:15am and gather up all my ...

It’s tomorrow!
by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"
I thought there would be plenty of time get everything done, but sure enough things happen and I'm off a nicely organized schedule. Firstly my bike was making a awful squeaking sound which surely would made all the participants in race take notice and get out of my way, while it had that benefit it was caused by the wheel rubbing against the frame. ...

Welcome to Penticton, Canada
by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"

An extremely early start to the day (3:30am) with a flight to Vancouver, followed by a long but very scenic bus ride, took me to the beautiful town of Penticton, in the heart of British Columbia, Canada.

For months I've the same exchange over and over again with a number of different people I which goes something like this:"Ironman, really? Hawaii?"

A Year in Training…
by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"
August 26th 2006: In final preparations for my second Half-Ironman (Big Kahuna), I crashed my bike quite spectacularly on our team practice Triathlon. After a few hours waiting in the hospital, I found out I'd fractured my arm and would not be able to do my event ...

My swimming has improved a lot this year and I am confident that I will make the time cut. I am still not a good swimmer so 2 hours seems like the what I should be looking at for a finish time.
Start ...

Tue Aug 21, 5:17 AM ET
LONDON (AFP) - Organisers of a duathlon in Scotland have taken out a one-million-pound (1.46-million-euro, 1.97-million-dollar) insurance policy against attack by or sighting of the fabled Loch Ness monster.
