I FINALLY raced today. My last race was Donner Lake in July of '05 and I had signed up for many since then. Torn shoulders, stitches, and 3 month family crisis prevented all of them from happening for me. Until now. I have really only been training for about a month with the IronTeam and before I joined them, I was not fit anymore. So, I was really woefully undertrained for this event, but I DID it. And not bad for someone who just jumped in four weeks ago, if you ask me. My race report can be found on BeginnerTriathlete.com, my screen name is Mottyl but here are some basics.
Treasure Island Sprint Distance Triathlon
500m swim 20:03 (embarrassing but I was THIS close to a DNS when I hit the water)
T1 7:36 (appearantly, I like to be leisurely)
20k bike 49:51 (not a hill in site)
T2 3:37
5k run 34:52 (a PR for me--don't laugh, I'm stoked about it)
36 out of 38 in my AG, 476 out of 496 overall. I wasn't DFL!
I am desperate for more OWS practice, this was near disasterous but I do blame a lot of it on the cold.
A special thanks to IronTeammate Charles for being there to say "hey" and run me in for a few minutes. I didn't bring anyone for support so it was really special to have a friend there.
