July 18 – 23: hell’s waiting room

by Mrs. D @ catching the paper boy
Tuesday, July 18: Swim somewhere near 2500m and head to the gym after the optometrist. Discover I need new prescription for one eye. Cause of inability to ride more than 55 miles? Not likely, but usable.

Wednesday, July 19: Encouraged by a fast 15-mile ride this morning, am surprised by Floyd’s bonk and spend rest of day nursing a warm bottle of Sustained Energy.

Thursday, July 20: Long walk in the neighborhood seems to have lifted Floyd out of his funk. End day with large crab quesadilla and a Tecate.

Friday, July 21: Play game of bumper pool for 2500m, then head to the gym. Also do heavy lifting of old futon/couch for mom. End day with large brownie sundae and two Rock Bottom Reds. See dangerous beer trend developing.

Saturday, July 22: Watch Floyd rock the TT (must be my consistent beer consumption) then head out for a migraine-inducing two-hour ride with the mister. More heavy lifting of queen-sized bed to mom’s. End day with IQ Test/Crib Assembly.

Sunday, July 23: Hottest day on Triple-Brick record and the Team shines through. Brava and bravo to the troops! IMLP racers put in a phenomenal race, as everyone completes at least one bike loop. "Proud" doesn't begin to describe it. Leave E&C early to attend two-year old’s birthday party. Make note to self: Trains, blow-up balls, and watermelon slices a big hit with the under-five crowd. Imagine holding my boy as he blows out the candles on his (sugarless) birthday cake. Weep, recover, repeat.

Felt hot. Must find shade now.
