The 140.6 Mile Swim…

by Dan @ Get in The Water!
...otherwise known as IM USA in Lake Placid. The trip started off great as we had easy flights with good connections to Burlington, Vermont. Then it was A nice drive to the ferry to cross Lake Champlain and a pizza dinner in Elizabethtown, NY. We made it to our hotel around 8 pm with no issues.

Friday we registered, got our gear bags and picked up the bikes. Gotta love tribike transport - so ...

Captain Nick verus the Loch Ness Monster!

by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"
How better the to end the year than with more one final crazy thing? Today I battled the Loch Ness Monster! A couple of weeks ago before I left for Scotland I was joking with my fellow Training Captains (Ann & Christy) that we should have an open water swim in Scotland and that Loch Ness would be the best place for it. ...

Back in the bay

by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"
Today's Ironteam practice featured the first open water swim of the season. Despite the flashbacks of the chilling water and feeling like my head was stuck in an ice fire, from the swim at Aquatic park back in January; I still managed to get the courage to drive up to the city arrive late, spend an unusual amount of time putting on my wetsuit, ...

The Ride with odd gloves

by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"
To mark the one week anniversary of my failed my bike ride, I was back for the same route, this time though I had brought my other bike and apparently due to a packing error some odd gloves (at least I still have a right and left even if they didn't match). I headed up Steven's Creek Canyon Rd, and continued up Redwood Gulch ...

The Ride that wasn’t…

by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"
Today was not going as planned, I missed the morning's Ride and Tie practice, but I'd figure I would make it up with a good long ride, on my favorite Skyline Loop. I started off my ride from Chain Reaction at Foothill Crossing, I had one false start and returned to the car for a some extra layers, though the sky was clear and ...

The possessed trainer…

by Nick @ "The last crazy thing I did"
It was another Spin at Sport's Basement, I'd given out my regular trainer, which left me with my Computrainer. I had used it a number of times before with the a computer attached but never it's standalone mode, of course it would been a good idea to read the instructions before hand, but it has six buttons how hard can be? Well I got it going pretty easily, however after a few minutes it was ...

Desperate Times, Desperate Actions

by GoBevGo @ Beverly's Adventures in Ironland 3.0
It's been a looooonnnnng time since Ironman Canada back in August. I've been the classic slug with only occasional bursts of activity: a couple runs, a couple rides, one open water swim and two heart-stopping surf-kayak lessons with Steve at Mavericks. That all changed last week when I went back to Bootcamp.

Bootcamp is my faithful friend, always there to kick my a#@ when necessary. It's my first time back since joining the ...
